If you’re looking for new acts to watch for 2017 we’d like to introduce to LA trio Twin Oaks.
Right from the first note, ‘Eighteen Minutes’, will caught your attention and won’t let you go. As the track begins to take on a life of its own, it oozes confidence with Twin Oaks charisma, completely captivating listeners.
Originally started as a softly-sung folk duo, vocalist Lauren Brown and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Domingo incorporated moody folk and electronics influenced by the likes of Mazzy Star, Cat Power, as well as The XX, and London Grammar.
The duo self-released their mini-album ‘The Lion’s Den’ on January 2014 and garnered attention through UK-based indie radio station Amazing Radio with their single ‘Find A Way’. Twin Oaks quickly began early recording sessions on August 2014 with Defeater drummer Joe Longobardi and contributing guitarist Louis Bernal at Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, CA to record their debut full-album ‘White Noise’.
The band later met drummer/multi-instrumentalist Rhyan Riesgo, who was added onto the second half of the recording sessions and completed line-up of the band. The band’s debut album arrived in October 2015. After a year of regional shows throughout most of California and sharing the stage with LA favorites Emma Ruth Rundle, Highland Kites, and AKW, the band began working on new material to release for the 2017 year.
