You’ll Love Artificial Pleasure’s Debut Single

Around this time last year, The 1975 re-emerged with the flawless first single from their second album ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It‘. ‘Love Me’ was an unexpected bolt of ‘Fame’-era Bowie inspired brilliance that even the hardiest of haters couldn’t deny.

New band Artificial Pleasure have managed to create something that hits the same sweet spot. Their debut single ‘I’ll Make It Worth Your While’ is just as brilliant, and just as irresistible. It shares similar Bowie influences to ‘Love Me’, but, here, they’re more subtle, exhibited in little guitar flicks that are nearly drowned out by a monstrous bassline. Instead, Talking Heads reign in this piece of post-punk fury.

‘Let me out! I really wanna dance!’ cries McDonnell with the kind of urgency that makes you think he might explode if he doesn’t get his chance to strut his stuff soon. In fact, ‘I’ll Make It Worth Your While’ couldn’t make a stronger case for hitting the dance floor. Listening in public isn’t advised – unless you want everyone on the bus to be staring, pointing and laughing as your limbs flail and hips gyrate against your will.
