Introducing… Rafferty – Releases New Video for ‘Apple Pie’

Discovered and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer and 2016 Producer of the Year Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars, fun., Jay-Z), Apple Pie’ is Rafferty’s first ever release. The song’s bold guitar riffs showcase Rafferty’s gritty rock n’ roll sound weathered by life’s storms and powered by 808s, driving bass, rock swagger and a touch of country twang.

‘Apple Pie’ officially premiered on Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 show and prior to release, Apple selected it for their iPhone 6 launch – it has since become the most used song in Apple’s history of any product launch.

“I want to create what Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, and Elvis had,” Rafferty said of the timeless, larger-than-life character of his songs. “It’s modern, but it summons those ghosts of tradition.”

Rafferty’s journey began when, galvanized by Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” and Kanye West’s “808s & Heartbreak,” the 6-foot-6 half-Persian and half-Scandinavian Colorado-born wandering maverick spent four months traversing the country with an acoustic guitar, highlighted by countless impromptu gigs at rough and tumble trucker outposts, smoky cafes and tiny restaurants throughout the heartland. By chance, Rafferty met Tyler Johnson (OneRepublic, fun., Cam) at the studio on the day he planned to record “Apple Pie.” After a highly creative session, Tyler invited Rafferty to meet his mentor Jeff Bhasker and his music career took off from there. Rafferty will be releasing an EP in the near future – stay tuned for more to come from this timeless new voice.
